Tired of Church as Usual?

Mar 10, 2022

Matthew 28:19 NIV - Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Tired of Church as usual? I am!

But what would you actually change?

And just to be upfront about my intentions, I recognize there are no perfect people, churches, or ways to gather.

Lots of flavors out there. Whatever floats your boat. Just align with the Bible and it's all good with me.

So let the church gather the way it wants to gather ...

- mega-church
- multi-site
- small
- in homes
- at schools
- in tents
- outside
- online

... I could actually care less about how a group of people want to gather.

Let somebody else fight about that. Any Pharisees in the house?

What I would change about "church as usual" are the results.

Jesus gave us our mission ...

To disciple nations - Matt 28
To evangelize to people - Mark 16

Our mission is the great commission, to disciple people and nations.

Well how are we doing? What is the state of the church?

Fast Facts:

- there are 37M churches worldwide (places to gather).

- 2.54 billion Christians.

- church organizations spend over 100 billion a year.

- 65% of pastor/churches don't believe the bible is the infallible Word of God.

- the bible is the best selling book that Christians don't read or actually believe. Over 5 billions copies hav been printed.

- less the 15% of Christians read the bible daily.

- less than 6% of Christians have a biblical worldview.

- less that 5% of Christians have made the bible the center of their lives.

- 82% of Christians can't tell you God's plan and purpose for their lives. (Can you see the problem with this? God has a masterplan, but we don't know what it is. No playbook.)

- the church (people + institution) have allowed God to get kicked out of the 7 mountains of the marketplace. (business, government, education, media, arts & entertainment, religion and the family unit)

We didn't disciple the people or the 7 mountains. But satan's followers did.

The marketplace is the heartbeat of every city and nation. Disciple the people in the marketplace and you will have a discipled nation.

>> This folks, is church as usual.

I don't think I have to criticize the church, I just think we have to be honest with what's not working and why.

If you are looking for criticism, look no further than the book of Revelation for God's state of the church scorecard.

>> Here's the point. Church as usual isn't working.

You don't have to create a masterplan, God already has that.

You only have to know your role in His masterplan.
