The God who exceeds our expectations!

Dec 16, 2020

Here's The Problem

This year's about done, and maybe you feel like you're done too! Your #finishstrong motto has been reduced to #justgettingby. No thriving, just surviving.

Look, when life hasn't worked out the way you planned it, it's common for your hope in God to be reduced to wishful thinking.

Perhaps you've experienced a setback in your career or business, and the weight of your struggle has rolled into your finances, physical and mental health, and relationships. It's common to lose your sense of purpose and begin to develop a just-get-by mindset

What you need now is a breakthrough. A sudden shift from God. A miracle, the God kind of moment that follows life's dead-ends.

The Reset

Here's the thing, God specializes in exceeding our expectations — BUT ACCORDING TO YOUR FAITH.

BTW, what exactly are your expectations of God? If you're looking for a reset in your life, a 180, a turnaround, may I humbly suggest it begins with a total reset of your expectations?

Breakthroughs and miracles tend to follow dead-end seasons. In knowing this, prepare yourself because a breakthrough opportunity is up ahead.

How do you get prepared? Reset your expectations of what God desires to do in your life.

Aim high. How high?

This high!

Ephesians 3:20 AMP - Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us,

1 John 5:14-15 AMP - This is the [remarkable degree of] confidence which we [as believers are entitled to] have before Him: that if we ask anything according to His will, [that is, consistent with His plan and purpose] He hears us.

vs 15 - And if we know [for a fact, as indeed we do] that He hears and listens to us in whatever we ask, we [also] know [with settled and absolute knowledge] that we have [granted to us] the requests which we have asked from Him.

BTW ... that was your permission from God to elevate your expectations.

The Shift

There is a miraculous shift coming in your future. So stop asking God for what you think is possible, instead, go for the impossible. Our God, the abundant provider, will go beyond meeting your needs. He's willing to exceed your expectations to give you the desires of your heart. (See Psalm 37:4)

Then what should you expect from God? Expect Him to make good on His promises. He's glorified when your faith and expectations are aligned with His Word, no matter the circumstances.

God's not worried about impossible situations. Without them, He'd be out of the miracle business.

Our name Cana came from the story in the Bible where Jesus turned water into wine. Amazing wine. Jesus exceeded their expectations, it was His first miracle, but not His last. He never retired, He's still in the miracle business.

He was invited to a wedding and He showed up with His new disciples. BTW, Jesus connected with His disciples during a stuck season in their lives.

But the wedding quickly ran into trouble because they ran out of wine. That's always a bummer. In those days, this would have created great shame for the wedding families.

So Jesus's mom went to Jesus and asked Him to do something about the problem. She was expecting a miracle.

Perhaps it was a "Hey, hold my beer ... wine whatever!" moment. OK, I made that part up.

He asked the helpers to fill up a bunch of huge ceremonial water containers. Seemed crazy, but they obeyed. They created the capacity for a miracle. The huge containers set the expectation. And then He turned ordinary water into an amazing wine. The wedding guests were blown away!

God has a way of doing this right into our present day. Many years ago I had a marketing agency and we made a $750,000 media buy for a client using my business credit. The client stiffed me when the bill came due. I didn't know what to do. I didn't have the money to pay the bill. And if I didn't pay the bill, the media company we owed the money to was going to shut off all my media buys for the rest of my clients. This would have put me out of business.

This setback was a setup for a miracle.

I searched and found a bunch of promises from the Bible and decided to reset my expectations and faith to match the promises. I asked God for the impossible. A few weeks later I landed a gigantic account that gave me the cash to pay this media bill in full.

Exodus 34:10 AMP - Then God said, “Behold, I am going to make a covenant. Before all your people I will do wondrous works (miracles) such as have not been created or produced in all the earth nor among any of the nations; and all the people among whom you live shall see the working of the Lord, for it is a fearful and awesome thing that I am going to do with you.

When you allow yourself to think bigger, God will do bigger. Folks, it's time to reset your expectations, forget just surviving, God wants abundance for us. It's what Jesus said.

John 10:10 AMP - The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows].

Be bold, and believe big. Prepare for a sudden shift in your life. Just because you don't see a way doesn't mean God doesn't have ten thousand ways. What God started in your life He will finish.

Become breakthrough minded. Reset your thinking to expect things to change suddenly, in your favor. Never accept less than God's best for your life.

Who is your God?  A God who exceeds our expectations, and He's getting ready to turn your water into wine!
