Imposter syndrome is negative self-talk.

Apr 16, 2024

Imposter syndrome is negative self-talk.

It's a big lie that should be reversed.

You are actually rehearsing your failure. Instead you need to reverse it.

Don't rehearse it. Reverse it.

Anytime you aim higher than your past limited experiences, you will experience what many call imposter syndrome.

It's a "feeling" like you're living a lie, like you're pretending to be something you are not — at least not yet.

I'm going to frame this through the lens of a faith-driven founder. It's a feeling not a fact.

There is a God-planted dream inside all of us. And there's one inside of you. It's there whether you believe in God or not. It's the thing you would do if you had the resources and knew you couldn't fail.

It's a calling. It's God's plan and purpose for your life.

- You are probably unqualified to do it.
- You probably don't have the resources.
- You might not have the right experience.
- If it's entrepreneurial, it seems impossible.

Nevertheless, it's there. It may not make sense that God chose you for this assignment. But God chooses the unqualified to shame the wise (the elites). 1 Corinthians 1:27

So when the day comes that you answer the call, stepping out by faith, you will feel like an imposter.

In the flesh, everyone does

But when you answer the call of God, imposter syndrome is a big lie.

You are who God says you are the very day you muster up the courage to take on the big assignment.

When God called Abraham to be the Father of Nations, he became that the moment he accepted the assignment. God even renamed him from Abram to Abraham.

It was many years before Abraham and Sarah gave birth to Isaac.

As an entrepreneur, the founder must become the brand. The founder must lead the movement.

You can't do that if you're an imposter.

Whatever it is God has called you to be and do, be that person right now.

Imposter syndrome is for imposters. If that's you, your calling God a liar.

This is something I speak into nervous founders every single day. It's something I have to remind myself of when I go after the impossible projects.

If you are a follower of Jesus Christ, you don't become born-again when you get to heaven, you are born-again right now.

FACT: You are who God says you are, right now.
