How I Keep Winning — And Never Give Up
Sep 26, 2025At Startup Church this week, I pulled back the curtain and shared some of the personal rhythms that keep me running the race God set before me.
These aren’t hacks.
They’re not hustle.
They’re promises and prayers. Anchors I’ve held onto through the battles, the victories, the pivots, and the setbacks.
Let me walk you through them — because I believe they’ll fuel your race too.
1. Alignment with God’s Will
The most important prayer of all: staying in step with God. Not ahead. Not behind. In sync.
Because when I drift out of alignment, I feel it deep. And I hate it.
Galatians 5:25 – If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit.
Proverbs 3:5–6 – Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
2. Wisdom to Execute
Ideas are cheap. Execution is everything. But not just any execution — the right thing, the right way, at the right time.
That’s why I ask God for wisdom daily.
James 1:5 – If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.
Proverbs 2:6 – For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
Proverbs 16:3 – Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.
3. Flourishing Relationships
When my relationships are healthy — with God, with myself, with my wife, my family, my team, my clients, my partners — everything else thrives.
This is what I pray over:
With God
James 4:8 – Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.
Jeremiah 29:13 – You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.
Colossians 2:6–7 – Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him…
With Myself
Psalm 139:13–14 – For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Ephesians 2:10 – For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works…
Jeremiah 1:5 – Before I formed you in the womb I knew you…
With Others
Ecclesiastes 4:9–12 – Two are better than one… A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.
Psalm 133:1 – How good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!
Proverbs 17:17 – A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.
Proverbs 27:17 – Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.
1 Thessalonians 5:11 – Therefore encourage one another and build one another up…
Galatians 6:2 – Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
Proverbs 18:24 – One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
4. Financial Provision for the Assignment
I don’t just pray for provision. I pray for enough to do everything God has asked of me — and the full desires of my heart.
Psalm 37:4 – Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Philippians 4:19 – And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
2 Corinthians 9:8 – And God is able to make all grace abound to you… you may abound in every good work.
Deuteronomy 8:18 – You shall remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth…
5. Finish Strong
I’m not building for days. I’m building for decades.
And I plan to finish with my tank empty and Heaven crowded.
2 Timothy 4:7 – I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
Acts 20:24 – But I do not account my life of any value… if only I may finish my course…
Psalm 92:12–14 – The righteous flourish like the palm tree… They still bear fruit in old age.
Matthew 28:19–20 – Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…
Philippians 3:13–14 – Forgetting what lies behind… I press on toward the goal for the prize…
1 Corinthians 9:24–25 – Run in such a way as to get the prize… we an imperishable one.
Isaiah 40:31 – They who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength… they shall run and not be weary.

Because I’m not running on my own power.
I’m running on His promises.
And friend — so can you.
