Developing entrepreneurs requires Love and Hate.

Mar 02, 2024

I've been in the business of developing entrepreneurs for over two decades. It requires love and hate.

You have to love the entrepreneur.
You have to hate the failure.

For me it's life and death.

There is a path that leads to blessing. (life)
There is a path that leads to curse. (death)

Over time you develop a tough-love for people to guide them onto the path to blessing.

I hate failure because it's mostly preventable and so destructive.

I hate seeing an entrepreneur ...

- broke
- busted
- and disgusted

When an entrepreneur is on the path to failure, it's almost always obvious to everyone except the entrepreneur.

>> These Proverbs lay it out.

There is a way which seems right to a man and appears straight before him, but its end is the way of death. (Proverbs 14:12)

Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. (Proverbs 16:18)

So what do I do?

I do what God has done with me. He waits me out. At some point I become so uncomfortable that I seek out my comforter.

For entrepreneurs with a low-tolerance for pain, they come around pretty quickly.

For those entrepreneurs with a high-tolerance for pain, it takes years of destruction.

Our Father loves us and like any good Father, He hates to watch us self-inflict so much pain and destruction into our lives. But through His grace and mercy, He's ALWAYS waiting with open arms when the prodigal comes home.

Over my past 40 years as a serial entrepreneur, He's done this for me, over and over.

What we lack can be found in this one scripture, Jame 1:5.

If you've stumbled, it's time to get back up!
