Develop The Learning Heart To Succeed

Jun 12, 2020

If you're like me, you want God to teach you how to become successful in every area of your life, including business. You want your life to be profitable.

3 John 2 (AMP) Beloved, I pray that in every way you may succeed and prosper and be in good health [physically], just as [I know] your soul prospers [spiritually].

And for that to happen, you'll have to develop a learning heart to get access to God's wisdom, understanding, and knowledge, AKA — The Know-How.

Here's a pretty simple entrepreneurial concept!

Entrepreneurs who generate consistent revenue, know how to do it. And those who lack the revenue results, don't. I mean, if they knew how, they'd have the results, right?

So the big question is, are you willing to learn-how, to get the know-how?

If it's your desire to be successful at reaching your dreams and goals, you'll have to develop a learning heart. Why? Because a learning heart is what creates the capacity for growth. It's how you get the know-how.

If you want to change something in your life, you have to be willing to grow. And if you want to grow, you have to be willing to learn.

Learn > Grow > Change

If you're a faith-driven entrepreneur, you'll have to learn God's way of doing things.

  • It starts with changing the way we think.
  • So we can change what we do.
  • So we can change our results.

Think. Do. Results. (TDR)

In our last article, Permission to change my way of thinking, PLEASE!, we discussed giving God permission to change our thinking. To get rid of the stinkin' thinkin'.

In this article, we're focused on changing our doing by developing a learning heart. The opposite of a learning heart is a stubborn heart or a prideful heart.

There are 3 keys to developing a learning heart, but before we get into that, let me highlight a few truths to keep in mind that will help you in your journey.

- Trouble is to be expected, but our delivery from ALL trouble is certain.

Psalm 34:19 (NIV) The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all.

- A person with a learning heart can navigate through the trouble.

Proverbs 1:5 (AMP) The wise will hear and increase their learning, And the person of understanding will acquire wise counsel and the skill [to steer his course wisely and lead others to the truth].

- Wisdom is available to ALL who ask.

James 1:5 (NIV) If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.

- Nothing can stop God's plans.

Psalm 33:11 (NIV) But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations.

That said, let's take a look at the 3 Keys to Developing a Learning Heart.

  1. Learn the difference between problems and symptoms.

Most of the time, what we believe to be problems are only the symptoms of the problem. If you have a business with low, slow, or no revenue, that's the symptom. The problem is the lack of know-how to generate revenue.

Lack of knowledge will always be The Problem. Admit you lack the know-how, then commit to learning how.

I do this every week. I'm always having to learn new marketing technologies, learning new things in my faith journey, and many other things to be successful and profit in every area of my life.

Prideful people seem to have trouble admitting this and they're always defending their way of doing things, even when it doesn't work. I call it the poverty mindset.

Here's what the scriptures say about people with a prideful heart.

Leviticus 26:19-20 (MSG) “And if none of this works in getting your attention, I’ll discipline you seven times over for your sins. I’ll break your strong pride: I’ll make the skies above you like a sheet of tin and the ground under you like cast iron. No matter how hard you work, nothing will come of it: No crops out of the ground, no fruit off the trees.

Proverbs 18:12 (NIV) Before a downfall the heart is haughty, but humility comes before honor.

    Daniel 5:20 (NIV)
But when his heart became arrogant and hardened with pride, he was deposed from his royal throne and stripped of his glory.

  2. Admit that you are where you are by choice.

When you face a life-obstacle blocking you from reaching your dreams, you have a choice. You can learn God's way of thinking and doing to get through that obstacle, or you can become a victim of your circumstance.

Look, your future — where you're going — isn't determined by your present circumstances, it's determined by your perception of what possible, the size of your dreams, and God's plan and purpose for your life.

Acknowledge that your very best thinking got you where you are. So if you're not happy with your present results, you have to be willing to change your TDR.

It's a choice. Refuse to be a victim.

  3. Be ready to allow God to help you His way, not your way.

God's way of doing things isn't man's way. When I get into a jam, my flesh tends to want to instruct God on what to do, how to do it, and when to do it.

Resist the urge to self-fix, instead God-fix. Learning His way of doing things.

Whatever you face an obstacle or problem, immediately admit, "Lord, I don't know how to do this, but I'm willing to learn how. This is the heart of a continuous learner.
